This $1,657,000 project was funded jointly by a $1,400,000 private grant and $257,000 from Mayor Bloomberg. The project will convert the asphalt field to a nylon synthetic turf playing field with new backstops and dugouts. A ramp and steps will improve access from Bergen Street to the field and to a new spectators' seating area that will incorporate space for wheelchairs. In addition, the project will include a new drainage system and water lines, two accessible drinking fountains, new fencing and a small planting bed. The playground will also be enhanced with new play equipment and color seal coated basketball courts.
