The September meeting of Community Board 8 will take place next Thursday, September 11. Among the items on the agenda is a vote on the recommendation by CB8's Transportation Committee to approve the installation of three bike corrals that have been requested by Vanderbilt Avenue merchants at the following locations:
- Milk Bar - 620 Vanderbilt Ave [map]
- Branded Saloon - 603 Vanderbilt Ave [map]
- Bar Chuko - 565 Vanderbilt Ave [map]
Bike corrals are cluster of bike racks that are installed in the street to remove clutter from sidewalks. The merchants who request the corrals agree to maintain the space; however, the corrals are available to all cyclists, not only patrons of those businesses. See

In June CB 8's Transportation Committee
voted to recommend approval of the three of the applications to the full CB 8 board. PHNDC's Livable Streets Committee assisted applicants to perform outreach, which included an open community meeting, followed by surveying community opinion via paper and online petitions. If the applications are approved by the full board, the DOT expects to install the corrals within a few weeks.
