The Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council

Founded by a group of concerned parents, the Prospect Heights Parents Association is dedicated to addressing concerns of families with children in the neighborhood. Its areas of focus include local schools, traffic safety, public safety and playgrounds. The Parents Association has organized to sponsor fundraiser and beautification projects for local school PS 9, has worked with the Parks Department on the renovation of the Underhill playground, and has successfully lobbied the Department of Transportation to implement pedestrian safety measures in the neighborhood, including recent traffic calming measures on Vanderbilt Avenue. The Parents Association also sponsors the Prospect Heights Parents listserve through Yahoo, which is an informal exchange of issues of interest to parents in the neighborhood. Information about the Parents Association's activities and advocacy campaigns are also announced through this listserve.
