Forest City Ratner plans to begin demolition of buildings on the Atlantic Yards site beginning Monday, April 23. Construction coordination and independent environmental monitoring as specified by the ESDC are not yet in place. Safety violations during asbestos abatement thus far have caused DEP to issue stop work orders at the site. The safety of the surrounding community would be at risk should large-scale demolition commence in advance of necessary controls being established.

The protest will be at 8am in front of 191 Flatbush Avenue between 5th Avenue and Dean Street in Brooklyn. Please come out to the protest Monday morning to tell Governor Spitzer and Mayor Bloomberg, that these demolitions must not go forward under the present conditions.
