Permanent street closures announced at Atlantic Yards site

Today, Forest City Ratner announced the permanent closing of the following streets in Prospect Heights, beginning on or about February 1.

Pacifc Dean shelter to close January 15 for demolition; PHNDC establishes relief fund for affected families

Residents of the Pacific Dean Annex shelter on Dean and Pacific Streets between Carlton and Vanderbilt Avenues were advised Monday, December 7 that the facility would close permanently on January 15 and begin demolition shortly thereafter as part of the Atlantic Yards project.

Shelter operators and NYC DHS are working to find permanent housing for the 88 families that currently occupy the shelter. Families unable to find permanent housing by January 15 will be transferred to another shelter. According to shelter officials, no relocation assistance is being provided to families by the developer.

Although the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate the Prospect Heights Historic District in June, it’s not official until the measure is approved by the City Council. Following the Landmarks subcommittee hearing on September 9, the full Land Use Committee will hear testimony on the designation at its next meeting on September 10th at 9:00AM. Join Councilmember Letitia James and show your support for designation. Ask City Council to approve the district ASAP! You must RSVP to
